Reflect The artifact for this standard exemplifies my understanding of INTASC Standard 1.A. Through this map and paper I have shown how I would use my
knowledge of the philosophies of education to implement my own personal philosophy within the classroom. I want children to get a wide range of experiences and I want every child to have the opportunity to learn in different environments. Movements and changes of scenery throughout the school day help children to remember what they learned better. It also helps teacher avoid behavior problems. Through this map I have shown my personal belief that students must get a variety of settings during a school day and perform a variety of injury situations.
Project
These artifacts show that while I am a very hands-on learner and need those real experiences, I also like to have the opportunity to work independently and in very controlled environments. This will help me to be a better teacher. Liking a variety of working environments and understanding what it takes to reach different modes of learning can only be a benefit in education. All children learn differently and we all have our own preferred way to learn (independently, partners, groups, etc.). By understanding that having a wide range of opportunities in one classroom, like the one created in this artifact, I create an environment that reaches all children. Students can use their desks to do group work or work independently, they can all come together as a whole class at the floor mat, and they can use spaces like the activity table and computers to also do group and individual work. Children need different learning opportunities and everyone learns best under certain conditions. As the teacher it is my job to facilitate that best suited learning environment for my students.
